Resource conservation is core to the Bass Pro mission. Their mission is to be the leading merchant of outdoor, recreational products—inspiring people to love, enjoy and conserve the great outdoors.
Bass Pro was looking for an analytical tool that would allow them the freedom to change waste and recycling vendors while retaining their historical data. Measurement and tracking allows for improvement and Bass Pro did not want to lose their data when the need to leverage the competitive market arose. Bass Pro wanted high level reports and the ability to drill down so that employees could see how their particular location contributed to the conservation objectives.
Some waste haulers provide reports, but Bass Pro wanted the reports to come from a standalone tool. They wanted their sustainability performance tool to be independent from any waste or recycling vendors for two reasons. One, the independence allows for credibility with the data. Two, they wanted a dashboard to see all of the company’s data in one place without having to sign a contract with a nationwide waste service provider. Bass Pro benefits financially by contracting with local waste service providers and wanted the option of continuing those business relationships while still having access to historical and current data in one place. "Via gives the customer the advantage of being able to leverage the competitive market while still retaining their data which is core to the business", said Dan Hoy, Director of Facilities at Bass Pro.
Via Analytics met Bass Pro’s requirements and worked with Bass Pro to develop a dashboard that provided a high level financial and materials view of waste and recycling as well as the details for in-depth reporting for each location. Bass Pro continues to decrease their costs and improve their conservation performance with Via Analytics. Hoy said, “The tool provides the discipline to sustain our core values as we grow the business”.
